Following movies are the nicest, simple & feel good English romantic movies of the decade, I have seen.
A 2010 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Rob Reiner and based on Wendelin Van Draanen’s 2001 novel.
This innocent love story has been portrayed in 2 different perspectives of both Bryce & Juli at the same time. Juli falls in love with Bryce the moment she saw him for the first time, but Bryce being entirely silent boy, is irritated with Julis behavior. Juli is an outspoken girl, who is understanding & loving. When Bryce starts having feelings for her, she decides she wants nothing to do with him. Later the two eighth-graders start to have feelings for each other despite being total opposites.
But the story is just more than this, it takes you through their families & things that they go through & we might relate some of them with our own lives. This movie will leave a cute little smile on your face.
A 2018 American teen romantic comedy-drama film, based on the novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli.
Simon Spier is gay high school boy, hiding his sexual orientation to balance his friends, his family & social life. Later he falls in love with an anonymous guy online & he couldn’t wait to see him. Later one of his schoolmate blackmails to leak his chats, to make everyone know about his secret being a gay. The movie shows the difficulties he had to face because of both being a gay & also hiding what he is.
Story is written in a very beautiful manner. Its true that how can you expect others to accept the way you are, if you cant accept what you really are. Just be true to yourself, no matter what.
3. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
Honestly, this one is the cutest of all. Its hard to forget the name Lara Jean after watching this movie. High school junior Lara Jean Covey writes letters to all the boys she had a crush on & keeps all of them in a box. Her younger sister posts all these letters & one of them was for Lara’s elder sisters ex-boyfriend. Peter Kavinsky, one of the guys who receives her letter makes a plan to get back with his ex-girlfriend Gen. He & Lara acts like they are dating in front of the whole school. Finally Peter & Lara falls in love with each other. It’s not as simple as it sounds like. Do watch it if you haven’t.
4.The Kissing Booth
Jacob Elordi who has done Noah Flynn in this movie, is an eye candy. Apart from the whole story Jacob Elordi makes this movie even more watchable.
A 2018 American teen romantic comedy , based on the Wattpad novel of the same name by Beth Reekles. The film follows Elle, a quirky teenager who has a crush on her high school senior and bad boy Noah , who’s also the elder brother of Lee, her best friend for life. Later Elle finds out that both Noah & Elle couldn’t hold themselves from falling in love with each other. But she was afraid to tell Lee about their relationship, since they had a few friendship rules they followed. Story then shows the problems that these three go through after Lee finds out the truth.
This is a must watch romantic movie.
5. Letters to Juliet
This is one of my personal favorite movie. I don’t know if its about the backgroung music (Love Story – Taylor Swift) or the very beautiful Amanda Seyfried. She’s just gorgeous.
The idea for the film was inspired by the 2006 non-fiction book Letters to Juliet, by Lise Friedman and Ceil Friedman, which chronicles the phenomenon of letter-writing to Shakespeare’s most famous romantic heroine.
Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is a young American woman who works for The New Yorker as a fact checker. She goes on a pre-honeymoon with her chef fiance Victor (Gael García Bernal) to Verona, Italy. Victor is always busy with his passion for food & opening of his new restaurant even during their vacation. Sophie always wanted to be a writer, so she was searching for a good story to start with. Victor & Sophie are not keen to spent time with each other.
Later Sophie discovers that thousands of “letters to Juliet” left in Juliet’s Verona courtyard are answered by the Secretaries of Julie. Sophie asks to join them and accidentally finds an unanswered letter by a Claire Smith from 1957. She answers it and within a week the now-elderly Claire Smith arrives in Verona with her handsome barrister grandson Charlie Wyman (Christopher Egan). Claire and Sophie take an instant liking to each other, but Charlie and Sophie do not get along.
Then Claire, Sophie & Charlie decides to search for Claire’s long-lost love, Lorenzo Bartolini.
Sophie gets permission from Claire to write this story. Later they finds that there are so many Lorenzo Bartolini living in the area. They take so many days to find Lorenzo, meanwhile Sophie & Charlie, who used to not like each other much, starts falling for each other.
Finding Lorenzo, breaking up with Victor, beginning of Charlie & Sophie’s love story makes this movie so beautiful. When you get a second chance to find your true love, don’t miss it.
